Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they added.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for information.
An important official commented the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
